Harlan Bakeries, Inc. opens their new Indianapolis manufacturing
facility.
Avon, Indiana - HBI
has been growing again, and has just moved into its
newly remodeled 118,000 square foot manufacturing facility
located on the Northwest side of Indianapolis at 7575
Georgetown Road. This new facility is in close proximity
to our Corporate office and manufacturing facility located
in Avon, Indiana. The facility has greatly increased
our production capabilities and also adds another Research
and Development Kitchen and dry warehouse storage area.
The Georgetown Road Facility is Internet connected
to our Corporate Headquarters and our other off-site
bakery partners and outside sales staff. The newly occupied
manufacturing facility will enlarge our ability to produce
our pies, crème and meringue, and the various
cake produces previously made by our facility in Lafayette,
Indiana. The Georgetown Road Facility is large enough
to allow us to transition our Lafayette facility to
the Indianapolis area giving all corporate officers
and various customers a shorter drive to view the bakery.
The Avon Corporate facility will continue to provide
additional overhead responsibilities for our three other
manufacturing facilities.
Doug Harlan, Executive Vice President said, “Our
new production area increases our production capabilities
and allows us to more easily utilize Corporate headquarters
for freezer space and centralized shipping and distribution.”
Harlan Bakeries, Inc., established
in 1991, produces Harlan Bigger Better Bagels and Harlan
Giant Gourmet Bagels brands, private-label bagels, contract
manufacturing, and products for in-store bakeries. Harlan
now produces more than just bagels. Harlan Bakeries
operates four production facilities. This includes its
200,000+ square foot flagship facility and corporate
office in Avon, Indiana. Other plants are located in
Indianapolis, Indiana (pie and cake production); Denver,
Colorado (bagel production); and Kentville, Nova Scotia,
Canada (fruit pie production).
